The projects objective was to the renovation and greening of the former 'Dresdner Bank' high-rise. The goal of the Commerzbank AG as client is to receive the DGNB certification in silver of the German Sustainable Building Councill ('Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen') after the building completion at the end of 2011. This is equivalent to a USGBC LEED Gold rating.
Commissioned by the general planners, 'Schneider+Schumacher Bau- & Projektmanagement GmbH', exact.projectmanagement are responsible for the strategic, creative and technical supervision of the design team, the whole project management, the design management architecture, as well as for the implementation of the permit and coordination processes under building law. A further focal point of our service is the plan of execution for the doors and the detailed plan for the special stories.
The 'Silver Tower' of the Dresdner Bank AG was built in 1978 at the Jürgen-Ponto-Platz 1, near the Frankfurt Central Train Station by ABB architects. In 1980 the building was put into use as Germany´s highest building, 166 meters high. The essential renovation of the high-rise became necessary since neither technical standard nor the interior design and the construction physics of the facade correspond with today´s demands for energy efficiency and prestige. The scope of the project includes, above all, changes to provide up to date fire prevention, new room arrangement within the office stories and renewal of the technical facilities. In addition, the facade of the high-rise will be totally renovated to do justice to today´s energy efficiency standards.
Its silvery coating, composed of aluminum elements, gives the office tower its characteristic, unique appearance. Because of its immense importance for the Frankfurt skyline, the customer, Commerzbank AG, decided to renovate and reproduce the original facade. Thus, the Silver Tower will retain its original outer appearance after the modernizing measures have been finished.
At the beginning of 2012, the 'Deutsche Bahn AG' (DB Mobility Logistics AG) will move into the high-rise as the new tenant.
